Greetings. Drive a 1997 discovery with ~70k miles. Recently (3/2008) the battery about one year old (replaced 2/2007) has been losing its charge not allowing the vehicle to start up. In thinking that it was a bad battery, jumped it and brought it over to the mechanic for a pro rated swap out replacement, but the mechanics test results show the

1. Slow engine crank. The 12 volt battery is a vital component of the starting system in Land Rover Discovery. It powers the starter motor that turns over the engine. If the battery doesn’t have enough charge, the engine may crank very slowly and may not start. Slow crank is usually the first symptom of a dying battery.

FL8 = 1.0A. but anyway, following that path put back FL8 cos at this point the alternator is the most suspect, unplug the small connector (C0226) from the alternator and undo maxi FL1 one side as to open the circuit and see the drain then.

Disconnect the negative (-) cable from the battery and connect a test light between the cable and the negative post. Use disconnect on + terminal. Place a stop or turn signal bulb with wire leads inbetween harbor freight quick disconnects two ends. Hi all, I have discovery 1 V8 which was off the road for over 12 months due to ignition problems and not working at all. Tried the spider by-pass and stil didn't work.
