Its not uncommon for a loose or corroded earth to cause the dash to re-set itself mid journey. If its only done it the once, I wouldnt be overly concerned just yet, but it wouldnt hurt for a a fiat dealer to check it out for you.

As just posted in a new thread, I have had my Punto from new (well, pre-reg) just over a week and had the power steering and engine management lights come on. Both "self rectified" and the fitter at the dealers managed to wipe the info in the computer. If it happens again, I will be demanding my money back or a replacement (non Fiat) car.
Hi having problem with fiat punto 1.2 elx speedgear 2000 reg. When you select gear in manual or select economy button it is supposed to display on the dash lcd but I get nothing the gear selector is working in manual mode but having to go by ear as to which gear im in. also the eco button does not seem to work at all.
