I have 38 drivers making me between 40 to 60k euro each. They need to level up to get there. Always tell them to level up long distance first before anything else. Give them a decent truck. A truck with a sleeper cabin is a must so they can take higher paying long distance jobs.
For normal in game cargo (Which goes max up to 25Tonnes I think), any truck will do. Without a doubt fully upgraded or unupgraded Volvo FH16 Globetrotter XXL, 3 wheel extended chassis. The Scania S High Roof costs whopping €308,130. The most expensive truck available in the truck dealership.
Euro Truck Simulator 2 exists so you don’t have to get a job driving lorries. It does a fantastic job too and is one of the best truck games we’ve ever played. On the one hand, it’s therapeutic.
So far I've made 1034 deliveries and driven about 480 000 km on duty. On OP's scale about two out of three of my jobs have been shorter than 500 km. With 100 km divisisions, my preference seems to be 200–300 km while the median job length is about 370 km. Janso95.
