AC1was focused on being as immersive as possible (like the fact it can be 100% completed with no hud), having cinematic cutscenes zoom in on faces with changing angles on people several yards away from altiar where he might not be able to even see them in the first place kinda goes against that design philosophy.

Alot of times the cutscene is a loading screen in disguise. If developers want people to sit through their cutscenes, make good cutscenes. Assassins Creed 2 had some great moments, and I never felt the need to skip anything. I'm not even sure they prevented you from skipping cutscenes.
